2025 GYFC Cheerleading Program Descriptions

 

Grades K-1 Intro to Cheerleading

The K-1 Intro to Cheerleading program will run from the 4th Tuesday in July (7/29/2025) through the first game of the season on Labor Day Weekend (Sunday, 8/31/2025). The athletes will learn cheer motions, jumps, simple stunting techniques, as well as sideline cheers and a simple halftime routine. They will showcase all that they learned at the first home game. Athletes will be provided with a GYFC t-shirt and bow to keep.

Practice Schedule: From the 4th Tuesday in July (7/29/2025) to the Tuesday before Labor Day Weekend (8/26/2025), this program will practice once a week on Tuesday nights from 5:30pm - 7:30pm at Long Hill Field.

grades 2-8 Sideline Cheerleading

The 2-8 Sideline Cheerleading program will run from the 4th Tuesday in July (7/29/2024) through the championship game (Saturday, 11/15/2025 - TBD), assuming any one of our football teams qualifies. The athletes will learn cheers, jumps, dance choreography, stunting techniques, as well as sideline cheers and a halftime routine. Athletes are required to cheer at their scheduled home games, mostly on Sundays, for the duration of the season and will have opportunities to cheer at away games and/or night games. Athletes will be provided with a GYFC t-shirt and bow to keep.

Practice Schedule: From the 4th Tuesday in July (7/29/2024) to the Thursday before Labor Day Weekend (8/28/2024), this program will practice twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:30pm - 7:30pm at Long Hill Field. Once school starts, this program will practice for one hour prior to games.

grades 3-8 Competitive Cheerleading

The 3-8 Competitive Cheerleading program will run from the 4th Tuesday in July (7/29/2024) to possibly through the first weekend of December (AYC Cheer Nationals Competition). Teams compete in up to four competitions per season. Locals (Saturday in mid-October - TBD), States (Saturday in late-October or early-November - TBD), Regionals (Saturday in mid-November - TBD), and Nationals (Wednesday-Saturday, 12/3-6/2025). All teams compete at Locals and States; teams who place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at States will advance to Regionals; and teams who place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at Regionals will advance to Nationals. Throughout the season, athletes will learn cheers, jumps, dance choreography, and advanced stunting techniques, as well as their competition routine. Athletes are required to cheer at their scheduled home games, usually on Sundays, for the duration of the season and will have opportunities to cheer at away games and/or night games. Athletes will be provided with a GYFC t-shirt and bow to keep as well as a competition uniform and poms for use during the season.

Practice Schedule: From the 4th Monday in July (7/28/2025) to the Friday before Labor Day Weekend (Friday, 8/26/2025), this program will practice up to five times a week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights from 5:30pm - 7:30pm at Long Hill Field. Once school starts, this program will practice two times weekly for ~2.5 hours each day between 6:00 - 9:00pm (Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday nights depending on their team placement). Additional practices may be added prior to competitions as needed.
