Guilford Youth Football secured a Shoreline Youth Football Conference Championship on Saturday, November 16th at Vanacore Field in North Haven when the #1 ranked 6th grade team capped off an undefeated season with a thrilling 26-0 victory over #2 Southington. Congratulations to the team for an incredible season. Their final record was 11-0.
The 6th grade boys dominated the regular season by winning all eight games. Entering the postseason, they turned it up a notch by posting three straight shutout victories on their way to claiming the championship. They outscored their three playoff opponents by a margin of 82-0. In the first round of the playoffs, they defeated Shelton 30-0 then followed it up with a 26-0 performance against Cheshire in the semifinals before handling Southington in the championship game. Players selected represent the type of well-rounded student-athletes we hope to develop through their participation with Guilford Youth Football and Cheerleading.

Hello GYFC Families,
As we reflect on the 2023 season, there is much to celebrate and much to be excited about for the future of Guilford Youth Football and Cheerleading. Before we review a few highlights from the season, we want to take a moment to say thank you to each of our head coaches and the assistant coaches who dedicated countless hours before, during and after the season to help every football player and cheerleader have a positive experience. Our team parents also deserve a round of applause for their support of the coaches and teams.
Additionally, we have a small but mighty group of executive board members who are committed to creating the strongest program possible while focusing on the long-term vision of being a consistent feeder program to the GHS football and cheerleading programs. Our goals are lofty AND attainable, and as we partner with Coach White and the high school program, we strive to help bring shoreline conference and state championships to the Guilford community.

Looking Ahead to the 2024 Season
There is still much to be accomplished as we look to keep growing and improving the program AND we need your help! In the coming weeks and months, we will be seeking greater involvement from parents on several important initiatives. We are looking to formalize a few committees to help take the lead on various activities including fundraisers, league events and other exciting initiatives. Please consider attending our monthly board meetings to learn how you can get involved in 2024.
In addition to our existing fundraising events and league activities, we have a couple new ideas brewing. If you are interested in learning more about how you can help, please contact us and/or attend the next board meeting. We typically meet on the second Monday of each month and send meeting announcements via email. We hope to see you there!
Be on the lookout for the first new initiative in 2024, the official GYFC Super Bowl Squares! We will offer boxes for a nominal donation with cash prizes throughout the Super Bowl. This will be online and easy to share. Get in the big game and support GYFC!
Happy Holidays and New Year from Guilford Youth Football and Cheerleading!
Thank you.

The Guilford Youth Football & Cheerleading program secured its first Shoreline Youth Football Conference championship since 2013 when the 4th grade team capped off a magical season with a victory over North Haven in the championship game on Sunday, November 20th at Southington High School. The 4th grade squad finished the season undefeated with a record of 11-0.
GYFC would like to acknowledge and celebrate the 7th grade team for making it back to the championship game for the second year in a row. The team played hard but lost a tough game to Cheshire 14-0. We are incredibly proud of the team for fighting their way back to the championship and look forward to watching them make one last run as 8th graders next season.
After amazing performances at the local competition, our D12 and D10 cheer teams competed at the state cheer competition on Sunday November 6th at Weaver High School in Hartford. Great job girls!
