COVID-19 Updates

Registration and Refund Policy Changes

UpdatedMonday April 20, 2020 byKen Alberti.

Hello GYFC Families,

I hope this message continues to find you and your family healthy and doing well. I wanted to follow up from my email last week and clarify a few points that came up in response to the communication.

During a virtual GYFC board meeting earlier this week, we discussed and approved a few changes to our registration and refund policies that we hope will provide some relief to our football and cheerleading families and alleviate any concern if the 2020 season is cancelled.

First, we are extending the current registration discount of $50 off the standard fee through May 31st. The $50 discount typically ends on April 30th.

Second, we approved a new policy to address registration fees if the 2020 season was to be cancelled. We are offering three options for families to choose from.

Option 1 – Full and complete refund of 2020 registration fee.

Option 2 – Donate a portion or all of the 2020 registration fee to GYFC to help ensure we can continue providing a fun, safe and rewarding experience for all players.

Option 3 – Roll over the 2020 registration fee into next year and apply it to your 2021 season registration.

Please know that we understand everyone has other priorities at the moment and we are all being impacted by the current situation. The reason we are talking about GYFC registration at this time is that there are several activities that need to occur well before players step onto the field later this year. Among other things, equipment needs to be reconditioned, purchased and prepared, jerseys need to be printed and football/cheerleading/medical supplies need to be purchased and prepared.

Additionally, we have deadlines in June and July for declaring players and teams as part of our membership in the Shoreline Youth Football & Cheerleading Conference. These deadlines are in place in order to accurately create game schedules, confirm referees, medical personnel, field space, concession preparation, etc.

Finally, we appreciate and value the role of team sports, especially football and cheerleading, in the social, emotional and physical well-being of children. During this time, all of our kids need something to look forward to and many are missing being with their teams and teammates. GYFC wants to be ready with open arms whenever we are allowed to get back on the field together. I know I speak for all of our coaches in saying we miss our players and can’t wait to see them all again soon.

The GYFC board hopes the information above is helpful to you and your family. As mentioned last week, we are proceeding at this time as if the season will begin on schedule and without interruption. We know there are several unknown factors that may change those plans but for now we remain optimistic for a full or at least an abbreviated season.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. Thank you.
